Why Run in a Group?

Here are just a few reasons why we think that running as part of an organised group is just so much better!

  • 01 It's safer

When you run with Cowbridge Moovers you are never alone, so no need to feel nervous about those dark evenings. All our run leaders are first aid trained too, so help is always on hand should you need it.

  • Group running with Cowbridge Moovers is a very social, chatty afair. Join us to meet people, make new friends and feel part of the community.

  • When you run as part of an organised session you are far less likely to crawl under the blanket on a sofa. Regular organised sessions are a great motivator to keep on running.

I have always enjoyed running and benefits both physically and mentally. However, since joining The Moovers running has also become more social where I am fortunate to have gained some great friends. Running after all is not just about PBs.

Gavin

I absolutely love going to Cowbridge Moovers, it is great fun being able to run, walk or strength and condition, socialise, meet people and make new friends. It has been a lifeline not only post covid, but also a distraction and support when dealing with life events .. been great for physical, mental health and wellbeing. A great supportive, inclusive community group.

Moovers has really helped me manage grief following death of my mum, build fitness, confidence and self esteem.

Michele

A neighbour told me about Moovers whilst I was jogging around my village. I had just completed couch to 5k and felt that I wanted to join a group or club. I took the plunge one Friday morning (I turned up on my own ) about 2 years ago and wow what a friendly and welcoming group of people. I felt so at ease from the start . 20 mins out and back at your own pace ( I thought I wont manage that!) but amazingly I did . Chatting is encouraged whilst running, that so suits me. There are runners of all abilities . Many can run marathons , 10k etc but all are so friendly and encouraging that I absolutely love Fridays . People can jog/ Jeff whatever , everyone is included, any ability. I consider the regulars as my friends now and I run with many different members. There are social events too which are always enjoyable. If you want a friendly group where you can run at your own pace , with various sessions in the week that you can attend if you wish ( all amazingly free of charge) look no further . We're a really friendly lot who all encourage each other and above all we smile and have fun .

Louise

I moved to Cowbridge with small children and not knowing a soul locally. After the pandemic I decided I really needed to meet some people and despite being only a very casual jogger joined Cowbridge Moovers. I have made some new friends and run a half marathon, which I wouldn't have ever dreamed possible.

Charlie

Having always said I didn't like running and for years thinking that my knees would hurt if I tried, I finally joined Cowbridge Moovers in October 2019 just before lockdown, inspired and encouraged by seeing the group running around Cowbridge. I wanted to be able to do a Park Run before my 60th birthday. With the help and support of the run leaders I achieved my goal 3 months later in January 2020. Because of the group's warm welcome I have kept on running. I'm still at the back of the herd but feel 100% part of the group. Cowbridge Moovers has given me the confidence to complete the Run Leader training and I am now looking forward to encouraging and inspiring others who are curious about the benefits of running and want to join up and have a go. Cowbridge Moovers is a friendly, inclusive, supportive, well run and inspirational group for all ages. Through this amazing group I have made new friends, become someone who runs, and even had a go at other outdoor activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please fill out this form and be just a minute or two early to your first session to meet the run leaders. We do not charge a membership fee.

  • We don't run a formal programme, but all our session are time based, not distance based. If you are just starting out and need to walk some sections that's absolutely fine!

  • We ask all runners to wear bright clothing to sessions and wear a light or head torch during the winter months. All our sessions are outdoors so dress for the weather! Bring water and sunscreen in hot conditions.

  • Please contact us using the details below before coming to a session so we can understand your situation. We would recommended following a programme designed by a physiotherapist. If we can form part of that then see you soon!

  • All our sessions are free of charge and this is no joining or registration fee.

  • Unfortunately not. Cowbridge Moovers is 18+ only.
